2021 China-UK Joint Teaching Project of Sustainable Fashion Design Launched

On March 17, 2021, a China-UK international joint teaching project meeting was held in the conference room of the School of Fashion in the Nanhu Campus of Wuhan Textile University. The meeting was conducted by online video. Hui Tao, Dean of the School of Fashion of Wuhan Textile University, Xuewei Jiang, Associate Dean, Robin and Ruby, project leaders of Manchester Metropolitan University, as well as teachers and students of the project teams of both parties attended.

In this project, it is hoped that through the development of this project, students will further broaden their international horizons, enhance their international teamwork skills, and cultivate cross-cultural innovative thinking. At the same time, Tao also encourages students to cherish this learning opportunity, learn and think actively during the project, improve their stress resistance and professionalism.

Teachers and students from China and Britain interacted with each other through video. Eight groups also discussed and exchanged ideas around the theme of "Fashion Sustainable Rebel Tartan". In the next two months, students will use DingTalk platform and WeChat to carry out the discussions and reports, and complete a series of design works.

Since the first international joint teaching project with Edinburgh College of Art in 2011, the School of Fashion has cooperated with Manchester Metropolitan University, the University of Portsmouth, Iowa State University, the Bunka Gakuen University, Griffith University, and Tashkent University of Light Industry and many other international universities. By the international joint program, it will cultivate high-quality fashion education with international vision, cross-cultural communication skills and innovative capabilities.
